An increase in passengers continues to be a trend at the DuBois Regional Airport, according to airport Manager Bob Shaffer.
March statistics showed that there were 392 outbound passengers, according to information provided at April’s Clearfield-Jefferson Counties Regional Airport Authority meeting. Outbound passengers in February were listed at 326.
Year-to-date, the total number of departing passengers was listed at 1,097 passengers, which represents a 20 percent increase over 2018, which was 912.
“If we can grow that through the year we’ll be in excellent shape,” said Shaffer.
The airline landings for March were listed at 166.
“We’re 464 year-to-date against 424 last year at this point,” said Shaffer.
The passengers for the month of March were listed at 367 inbound and 392 outbound.
“We had 166 flights scheduled outbound and we had two outbound canceled and one inbound canceled for the month of March,” Shaffer said.
With regard to Southern Airways data, Shaffer said the trend continues that the airport has approximately 83 percent of the people boarding there going to Pittsburgh connecting on another flight going out and 17 percent stayed local.
“And then Baltimore is almost the exact opposite,” said Shaffer. “About a third, at 31 percent, are connecting and 68, almost 69 percent are staying local. That local is hopping on a train and going down to DC.”
